Lykan Balaclava - True Black
Next generation technical knitted insulation. Balaclava featuring a seamless, airy knit construction providing exceptional breathability and comfort.
What makes it special?
The outdoor business is full of “bells and whistles” and superficial innovation, but once in a while we encounter new technology with the potential to change things from the ground. The Lykan Series is definitely one of them. The completely seamless one-piece knitted insulation garments made with drawn textured yarn delivers a whole new experience that takes both comfort and performance to a new level. The ultralight, stretchy material shapes itself around your movement and really feels like an extension of your body.
How does it work?
The Lykan Balaclava is knitted in one piece using a unique, textured yarn, achieving an extremely soft, light and stretchy yarn with a fuzzy texture. The garment has three different zones seamlessly knitted to enhance comfort and functionality: Open mesh over the face to avoid condensation, a thicker rib at the neck for extra comfort and the standard medium density fabric over the head.
The light, open and super soft material is ideal for high activity insulation. It has a level of breathability, warmth-to-weight ratio and comfort that traditional insulation garments simply cannot compete with. The open, lofty and airy structure provides great insulation when you wear a protective layer like a helmet or hood over it, and instantly allows excess heat and moisture out when you open up to ventilate.
This one-piece knitting produces next to zero waste as we don’t cut any fabrics and the recycled and recyclable polyester yarn allows a fully circular garment lifespan. Performance and sustainability innovation often go hand in hand.
When should I use it?
Lykan Balaclava is perfect to wear under a helmet for cold weather activities: Skiing, ice skating, or bicycle commuting in the winter. The open, stretchy and seamless construction provides superior comfort and keeps you warm without overheating.
All in all, the Lykan Balaclava is a next generation insulation garment that pushes comfort, performance and sustainability. Try it and you will never want to go back to traditional insulation garments.
This garment is made with the future in mind using materials fit for recycling. Please return it to Houdini when it is eventually worn out and the raw materials can be used again. This way we reduce the need for virgin resources, decrease environmental impact and waste streams.
